Description
AD Check™ Cognitive Test – Early Detection of Cognitive Impairment
In today’s society, cognitive impairment has become a global public health concern. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common type of cognitive impairment, poses significant challenges to patients and their families. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 9% of individuals with cognitive impairment experience early-onset symptoms, and the incidence rate doubles every five years after the age of 65. Faced with this alarming situation, early screening and intervention are crucial.
Symptoms and Progression of Cognitive Impairment
Early symptoms are usually mild and may include short-term memory loss, difficulty in performing familiar tasks, decline in social or work capabilities, and personality changes. As the condition progresses, symptoms worsen, such as loss of direction, decreased language ability, and impaired judgment.
Importance of Early Diagnosis
Early diagnosis is critical for the treatment of cognitive impairment. Research shows that starting treatment early can significantly improve outcomes. Traditional diagnostic methods rely on memory tests and brain scans, which typically confirm the diagnosis only after significant symptoms have emerged, potentially leading to irreversible damage.
AD Check™ Cognitive Test: Breakthrough Technology
AD Check™ Cognitive Test is a breakthrough medical device certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It uses Single Molecule Array (Simoa) technology to precisely detect changes in p-Tau217 during the early stage of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The test has a sensitivity of up to 98.2%, specificity of 98.6%, and an overall accuracy rate of 96%. Compared to traditional methods such as PET scans and cerebrospinal fluid biomarker tests, AD Check™ is not only more convenient but also significantly reduces costs while providing highly reliable results.
Who Should Consider Testing?
The following individuals are recommended to undergo Alzheimer’s disease blood testing:
- Individuals aged 40 or above
- Those with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease (AD)
- Individuals with high-risk factors for AD (e.g., stroke, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia)
- Those exhibiting signs of cognitive decline
- Individuals who suspect cognitive impairment
- People living under high stress or with depression
- Long-term smokers and drinkers
Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease
Although there is no guaranteed method to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, healthy lifestyle habits can reduce the risk:
- Maintain a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, fish, and whole grains
- Engage in regular physical exercise to keep the body and mind healthy
- Ensure good sleep quality
- Participate actively in social activities to keep the brain active
- Manage “three highs” (hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia)
