Pre-Screening Guidelines
- Please bring your previous X-ray, CT, MRI or Ultrasound films and reports for reference.
- Inform our staff if you are or may be pregnant.
- No food or drinks 4 hours prior to contrast CT. Regular medications can still be taken with small amounts of plain water.
- Inform our staff if you have any allergies (especially towards contrast medium), asthma, or eczema.
- If you have kidney disease, have had kidney surgery, or have diabetes, we may require a renal function test report (eg, Creatinine level report, Glomerular Filtration Rate report) from the past 6 months.
- If you are taking metformin and your glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is higher than 30ml/min/1.73m² or you have renal failure, you should stop taking metformin 48 hours before the test day.
- Inform our staff if you are diabetic or taking the diabetic drug “Metformin”.
Coronary Angiogram (CTCA)
- No exercise, alcohol, smoking, coffee, tea or coke 12 hours before examination.
- If you have asthma and use an inhaler, please bring it with you to your appointment.
- You can take all medicines prescribed by your doctor as usual.
- Please bring your current medication list.
CT Virtual Colonoscopy Instructions
Day before examination:
- Please take non-fat, non-residue meals (e.g. Avoid vegetables, milk product), liquid diets (e.g. Congee) and non-residue
beverages (e.g.Water, tea, black coffee, light soup). Prescribed medication can be taken as usual.
Day before examination:
- The examination does require Klean Prep preparation beforehand.
Day of examination:
- No food on the day of examination, only small amounts of water consumption is allowed.
- The examination require intravenous administration of an Antispasmodic (Buscopan or Glucagen) prior to gas insufflations via
an enema tube.
- Please bring your previous X-ray, CT, MRI or Ultrasound films and reports for reference (if any).
- Inform our staff if you are or may be pregnant or if you are breast feeding.
- Inform our staff if you have any of the following:
- Cardiac pacemakers / implantable cardiac defibrillators
- Artificial cardiac valves
- Orthopaedic prosthesis
- Cerebral aneurysm clips
- Surgical clips
- Cochlear implants, neurostimulators
- Dental implants or braces
- Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCD)
- Tattoos
- Other metallic implants or prosthesis
- Previous eye injury with possible metallic fragments
MRI Abdomen, Pelvis or MRCP Scans
- No food or drinks for 4 hours before the examination. Regular medications can still be taken with small amounts of plain water.
MRI Cardiac (Function/Perfusion/Viability)
- No coffee is allowed 12 hours before the examination, and alcoholic or caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea, cola and chocolate should be avoided.
- No food or drinks for 4 hours before the examination. Regular medications can still be taken with small amounts of water.
Please take note if you are taking the following medications:- Please bring the nebulizer or inhaler you are using. If you are receiving any medication from your doctor, keep taking it as usual.
- If you are taking a medicine called dipyridamole/nicorandil, stop taking it 24 hours before your scan appointment.
- Children or claustrophobic clients may feel anxious and scared in the process. Our radiologist can provide assistance, including allowing family-accompanied examinations and pre-arranged visits to rooms and equipment.
- Please bring your previous X-ray, CT, MRI or Ultrasound films and reports for reference.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Depending on the check up requirements, you may be asked to remove some of your clothing or change into a gown.
Ultrasound of Upper Abdomen, Liver & Gallbladder (LGB)
- No food or drinks for 6 hours before the examination. Plain water is allowed. If possible, refrain from going to the toilet 30 minutes before the examination.
Ultrasound of Pelvis, Prostate & Bladder
- Drink plenty of water before the examination.
- If possible, refrain from going to the toilet 30 minutes before the examination.
- Please bring your previous mammogram and breast ultrasound films and reports for reference.
- You will be asked to undress to the waist, so you should wear 2-piece clothing.
- Inform our staff if you are or may be pregnant.
- Do not use bath powder or oil, perfumes, creams or deodorants to the breast and underarm areas on the day of your visit.
- Many women find it more comfortable to have a mammogram 1-2 weeks after their period, when the breasts tend to be less tender.
- Please stop taking blood thinners (such as warfarin, clopidogrel, dipyridamole, etc.) 24 hours prior to the test.
- Please refrain from strenuous activity, carrying heavy objects, or raising the arm to be examined for 3-5 hours after the check up.
Cardiac Ultrasound ( Echocardiography)
- Please bring your regular medications, and previous films and reports for reference.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Dairy products, milk, milk tea and coffee are not allowed. (Not suitable for those who have had the gallbladder removed).
- Regular medications can still be taken with small amounts of plain water.
Treadmill Test
- Take your regular medications unless the examining doctor and specialist nurse advise otherwise.
- Eat light and avoid alcohol and smoking at least 2 hours prior to the test.
- Do not do any strenuous exercise on the day.
- Please bring your previous films and reports for reference.
- Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting shorts or sweatpants for the check up.
- Please bring and wear a suitable pair of running shoes for the test.
