Protect Your Health with Genetic Testing！PanHERED Hereditary Breast and Gynecologic Cancers Panel is designed specifically for women’s health. Whether or not you have a family history of cancer, this test empowers you to understand your genetic risks early, embracing the principle of prevention over cure, and providing peace of mind for you and your family.

Why Is Genetic Testing for Hereditary Breast and Gynecological Cancers Important?

Hereditary cancers are often linked to specific gene mutations that may be passed down through families. Carrying certain high-risk gene mutations significantly increases the likelihood of developing breast or other gynecological cancers. For example:

BRCA1 mutation: Increases lifetime breast cancer risk to 55–65%.

BRCA2 mutation: Increases lifetime breast cancer risk to approximately 45–47%.

Hereditary Ovarian Cancer: Not Only BRCA 1 and 2 Genes?

When it comes to the prevention of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, many people first think of BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene testing. Mutations in these genes significantly increase the lifetime risk of breast cancer (55-65%) and ovarian cancer. However, modern medical research shows that genetic testing extends far beyond BRCA1 and BRCA2. Through multi-gene panel testing, a wider array of relevant genes can be covered, helping to identify a broader spectrum of hereditary risks for more effective early prevention and personalized health management.

While BRCA1 and BRCA2 are major contributors to hereditary breast cancer, they are not the only ones. Research indicates that mutations in other genes can also elevate cancer risk. For instance, mutations in the TP53 gene can lead to a lifetime risk of breast cancer ranging from 46-60%, while mutations in CDH1 can result in a risk of 39-52%. Limiting testing to BRCA1/2 may result in missing 40-50% of hereditary cancer cases.

Key Genetic Analysis for Predicting Alzheimer’s Disease Risk

As populations age, Alzheimer’s Disease impairs memory and quality of life, with higher risks for those with a family history or in middle to older age. Early genetic risk identification via the APOE Alzheimer’s Genetic Test is key to dementia prevention. A simple blood test enables a personalized prevention plan to delay disease progression and protect cognitive health, reflecting self-care and responsibility for family well-being.

APOE Genetic Test Overview

APOE genetic testing analyzes the Apolipoprotein E gene, focusing on its three major genotypes: ε2, ε3, and ε4. Among these, APOE ε4 is widely recognized for its strong association with Alzheimer’s disease risk.
This test requires only one blood draw and can determine lifelong risk, helping individuals start early lifestyle management and medical planning to prevent dementia.

Who Should Consider APOE Genetic Test?

This test is especially suitable for people who:

Suitable for people of any age who are concerned about brain health

People with family members suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or stroke

More Information

FAQ

What is the APOE Genetic Test?

APOE stands for Apolipoprotein E, which is involved in lipid metabolism and brain nerve repair. There are three main genotypes: ε2, ε3, and ε4. The ε4 genotype is directly linked to increased Alzheimer’s disease risk.

What do the different APOE Genetic Test mean?

The APOE gene has several alleles, mainly APOE2, APOE3, and APOE4:

Presence of the APOE4 allele increases Alzheimer’s risk.

Having one APOE4 allele (heterozygous) raises risk about 2-5 times higher than normal.

Having two APOE4 alleles (homozygous) increases risk by 13-26 times.

Other combinations like APOE2/2, APOE2/3, and APOE3/3 correspond to a normal or lower risk level.

Do I need to repeat APOE Genetic Test?

No. APOE is a genotype test and only needs to be done once in a lifetime since your genetic makeup does not change after birth.

Is the testing process painful?

Only a single blood draw is required, similar to routine health check-ups. No anesthesia or special preparation is needed.

What should I do if I test high-risk?

If you test as high risk, it is recommended to combine the results with brain MRI scans and the AD Check 認知測, and seek professional medical advice on lifestyle, diet, exercise, and health maintenance for comprehensive preventive management.

Is this test suitable for young people?

Yes. Even if symptoms have not appeared at a young age, early awareness of genetic risk helps establish healthy habits that can delay aging and brain degeneration. This is a key step in preventive medicine.

AD Check Cognitive Test – Early Detection of Cognitive Impairment

In today’s society, cognitive impairment has become a global public health concern. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common type of cognitive impairment, poses significant challenges to patients and their families. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 9% of individuals with cognitive impairment experience early-onset symptoms, and the incidence rate doubles every five years after the age of 65. Faced with this alarming situation, early screening and intervention are crucial.

Symptoms and Progression of Cognitive Impairment

Early symptoms are usually mild and may include short-term memory loss, difficulty in performing familiar tasks, decline in social or work capabilities, and personality changes. As the condition progresses, symptoms worsen, such as loss of direction, decreased language ability, and impaired judgment.

Importance of Early Diagnosis

Early diagnosis is critical for the treatment of cognitive impairment. Research shows that starting treatment early can significantly improve outcomes. Traditional diagnostic methods rely on memory tests and brain scans, which typically confirm the diagnosis only after significant symptoms have emerged, potentially leading to irreversible damage.

AD Check Cognitive Test: Breakthrough Technology

AD Check Cognitive Test is a breakthrough medical device certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It uses Single Molecule Array (Simoa) technology to precisely detect changes in p-Tau217 during the early stage of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The test has a sensitivity of up to 98.2%, specificity of 98.6%, and an overall accuracy rate of 96%. Compared to traditional methods such as PET scans and cerebrospinal fluid biomarker tests, AD Check is not only more convenient but also significantly reduces costs while providing highly reliable results.

Who Should Consider Testing?

The following individuals are recommended to undergo Alzheimer’s disease blood testing:

Individuals aged 40 or above

Those with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease (AD)

Individuals with high-risk factors for AD (e.g., stroke, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia)

Those exhibiting signs of cognitive decline

Individuals who suspect cognitive impairment

People living under high stress or with depression

Long-term smokers and drinkers

Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease

Although there is no guaranteed method to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, healthy lifestyle habits can reduce the risk:

Maintain a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, fish, and whole grains

Engage in regular physical exercise to keep the body and mind healthy

Ensure good sleep quality

Participate actively in social activities to keep the brain active

Manage “three highs” (hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia)

Symptoms and Progression

Early symptoms are usually mild and may include short-term memory loss, difficulty performing familiar tasks, a decline in social or work abilities, and personality changes. As the disease progresses, symptoms gradually intensify, such as loss of orientation, decreased language ability, and impaired judgment.

The Importance of Early Diagnosis

Early diagnosis is crucial for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Research shows that starting treatment early can significantly improve outcomes. Traditional diagnostic methods rely on memory tests and brain scans, usually confirming the diagnosis only after noticeable symptoms appear, which may lead to irreversible damage.

PlasmarkAD®: New Hope for Early Diagnosis

PlasmarkAD® is an innovative blood biomarker testing technology that accurately detects amyloid proteins in the brain, identifying Alzheimer’s risk before symptoms become evident. This technology boasts an accuracy rate of over 96%.

Who Should Get Tested?

It is recommended that the following individuals consider undergoing blood testing for Alzheimer’s disease:

Individuals aged 50 and above

Those with a family history of cognitive impairment

Individuals with high-risk factors for Alzheimer’s (such as stroke, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol)

People exhibiting signs of cognitive decline

Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease

While there is no foolproof way to prevent Alzheimer’s, healthy lifestyle habits can reduce the risk:

Maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, and whole grains

Engage in regular exercise to keep both body and mind healthy

Ensure good quality sleep

Early Colorectal Cancer Genetic Biomarker Screening (Blood Test)

Colorectal cancer, also known as colon and rectal cancer, is a malignant tumor affecting the large intestine (colon and rectum). In Hong Kong, colorectal cancer ranks as the second deadliest cancer. In 2022, it caused 2,270 deaths, accounting for 15.4% of cancer-related deaths. Besides its high mortality rate, colorectal cancer is the second most common cancer in Hong Kong. The incidence rate among individuals aged 55 and below continues to rise. According to the American Cancer Society’s 2018 guidelines, individuals aged 45 and above should undergo regular colorectal cancer screening. Those with a family history of colorectal cancer, hereditary bowel diseases, or other known risk factors should start screening earlier.

Risk Factors for Colorectal Cancer

Family History: Having direct relatives who have had colorectal cancer increases risk.

Dietary Habits: A diet high in fat and low in fiber may increase risk.

Obesity and Inactivity: Lack of exercise and obesity are considered significant risk factors.

Smoking and Alcohol Abuse: These lifestyle factors are associated with various cancers.

Symptoms of Colorectal Cancer

Early colorectal cancer may not show obvious symptoms, but as the disease progresses, the following symptoms may occur:

Abdominal Pain: Unexplained discomfort or pain in the abdomen.

Changes in Bowel Habits: Including diarrhea, constipation, or changes in frequency.

Blood in Stool: Presence of red or black blood during bowel movements.

Weight Loss: Unintentional weight loss.

Fatigue: Persistent fatigue and weakness.

Who Should Undergo Colorectal Cancer Genetic Biomarker Screening?

Family History: Individuals with direct relatives (such as parents or siblings) who have had colorectal cancer.

Age Factor: Individuals aged 45 or older, as the risk of colorectal cancer increases with age.

Previous Medical History: Individuals who have had colorectal polyps or other bowel diseases (such as inflammatory bowel disease).

Lifestyle: Smokers, those who lack exercise, or have a high-fat diet—these are known risk factors.

Symptomatic Presentation: Individuals experiencing unexplained abdominal pain, bleeding, or changes in bowel habits should undergo screening early.

Screening Content

Genetic biomarker screening primarily analyzes blood samples to assess the risk of colorectal cancer. Compared to stool tests and invasive procedures, blood tests are generally more acceptable, reducing refusal rates due to preparation and procedural discomfort. Additionally, blood tests do not require hospitalization or anesthesia, and have shorter recovery times compared to invasive tests (like colonoscopy).

Advantages of Blood Tests

Non-Invasive: No internal examination required, reducing discomfort.

Quick and Convenient: The testing process is simple and fast, usually requiring no special preparation.

High Safety: No anesthesia or other risks involved, suitable for all age groups.

Safe T21 Express Prenatal Screening

Safe T21 Express adopts the latest and patented Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing Technology (NIPT) for the screening of fetal chromosomal aneuploidies. The test utilizes Next Generation Sequencing followed by bioinformatics analysis on both maternal DNA and cell free placental DNA found in maternal blood. The detection of fetal chromosomal aneuploidies including Down Syndrome (T21), Edwards Syndrome (T18), Patau Syndrome (T13), Sex Chromosome Aneuploidies and microdeletion / microduplication all in ONE test is now made possible. Compared to the traditional screening methods based on nuchal translucency or maternal age, Safe T21 Express is more sensitive, reliable, accurate and informative.

Advantages of Safe T21 Express Prenatal Screening：

High accuracy for common chromosomal abnormalities >99%

Safe, non-invasive, and non-intrusive

Testing results unaffected by maternal age

Testing can be done as early as 10 weeks gestation

Report available within five working days

Suitable for:

Singleton : ≥10 weeks

Twins or Fetal Reduction : ≥12 weeks

Triplets: ≥14 weeks

IVF Pregnancy

Standard Panel Testing Items (14 items)

The test screens for 14 validated conditions. In alignment with international guidelines, this panel is the recommended choice for most mothers.

Trisomies

A trisomy is a chromosomal condition characterised by an additional chromosome. The disorders below are the most common forms of trisomy.

Trisomy 21

Trisomy 18

Trisomy 13

Sex Chromosomes Aneuploidies

The presence sex chromosomes determine the gender of your babies, XX for female and XY for male. The sex chromosomes occur in abnormal numbers can lead to severe health issues.

Turner Syndrome

Jacob’s Syndrome

Klinefelter Syndrome

Triple X Syndrome

Microdeletion Syndromes

Microdeletion occurs when a small segment of the chromosome is deleted or duplicated. It can only be detected by advanced technology with high resolution.

1p36 Deletion Syndrome

1 Deletion Syndrome

Angelman Syndrome

Cri-du-chat Syndrome

Advanced Panel Testing Item (152 items)

The test screens for chromosomal aneuploidies of all 23 pairs of chromosomes, including trisomies and at least 126 microdeletions/ microduplications with size greater than 3Mb that has recorded on the international databases: OMIM, Decipher and Orphanet.

Trisomies

A trisomy is a chromosomal condition characterised by an additional chromosome. Advanced panel screens for trisomies of all chromosome.

Sex Chromosomes Aneuploidies

The presence sex chromosomes determine the gender of your babies, XX for female and XY for male. The sex chromosomes occur in abnormal numbers can lead to severe health issues.

Microdeletion Syndromes

Microdeletion occurs when a small segment of the chromosome is deleted or duplicated. Advanced panel screens for at least 126 microdeletions/ microduplications. To view the full panel, please contact us .

Safe T21 Express utilizes Next Generation Sequencing followed by bioinformatics analysis on both maternal DNA and cell free placental DNA found in maternal blood. The results are generated by comparing the allelic ratios of the amplified fragments derived from the targeted chromosome of both mother and fetus. If the fetus is aneuploid, allelic ratios on the aneuploid chromosome are skewed in comparison with other, non-aneuploid chromosomes.
